MARAM (Multi-Agency risk assessment & Management)

MARAM (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management) is a collaborative approach to keeping women and families safe from intimate partner and gender-based violence. It brings together community organizations to share information and create safety plans for women aged 16 and older who are at high risk of serious harm or femicide.

When a case is identified as high risk:

  • The Community Coordinator completes a B-Safer risk assessment.

  • Within 72 hours, the Coordinator connects with community partners in a meeting (either ad hoc or monthly) to plan safety supports. The woman is encouraged to take part in this meeting, or the meeting can happen without the woman present.

  • The team works together to reduce risk, improve safety, and update plans as needed, involving both formal services and informal supports chosen by the woman.

  • Community partners include:

    • VAW (Violence Against Women) supports

    • Police Services

    • Brightshores

    • Victim Services

    • Child and Family Services

    • Public Health

    • Keystone

    • M'wikwedong

    • Victim Witness Assistance program

    • YMCA
